Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) was founded in 1958 and its first chapter was in University of Northern Iowa. It is associated with Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). PBL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) education associated with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields.

The Berkeley chapter of Phi Beta Lambda was founded in 2005 and is committed to developing your leadership, communication, and team skills and growing your professional network. Within Berkeley PBL, there are nine committees: finance, historian, marketing, publications, professional development, social, and internal networking committee. Each committee consists of committee officers and committee members/ Each committee is specifically designed to separate tasks throughout the semester. In addition to meeting once every week, committees also host events throughout the week that benefit other committees. PBL also participates in national-level and state-level competitions hosted by FBLA-PBL such as the State Business Leadership Conference held every spring.

Taken from Berkeley PBL’s website: “The Berkeley chapter of Phi Beta Lambda revolves around two central tenets: the promotion of the skills necessary for success in business leadership and the opportunity to experience the benefits of small club that some feel lacks at a large university such as UC Berkeley. In order to achieve these goals, Berkeley Phi Beta Lambda employs a committee system that is headed by an executive board. Each semester, nine different committees focus on completing various tasks for the education and enrichment of the members of the organization. All committees utilize different talents that have real-life applicability. From fundraising campaigns conducted by the Finance Committee to large-scale presentations hosted by the Historian committee, all members of Berkeley Phi Beta Lambda are exposed to and instilled with critical skills and knowledge that possess value during and after college life.”
