The Berkeley Student Food Collective is a volunteer-run cooperative grocery market located on 2440 Bancroft Way. The non-profit organization is aimed at "providing fresh, local, healthy, environmentally sustainable, and ethically produced food at affordable prices to the Berkeley campus and greater community." At the same time, it seeks to "educate students about nutrition and food systems, empower new leaders, and train youth to work in and manage a sustainable business."

The store is operated by volunteers who serve on a specific committee: Education, Outreach, Policy, Food, Membership, Fundraising, Storefront, and Finance. Members elect a Board of Directors that is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Collective. The Board of Directors is comprised of board members, each heading one of the committees.

Education - This committee attempts to "make the Collective's work in addressing the larger environmental, social, and political issues related to food systems today more tangible and accessible to students and the surrounding community." The Education committee is responsible for hosting a semester-long DeCal called "Berkeley in the Global Food System."

Outreach - This committee is responsible for the publicity aspect of the collective and for informing students and the wider Berkeley community about the Collective.

Policy - This committee writes and enforces policies and bylaws. The committee is also responsible for overseeing the Collective’s adherence to state and federal regulations

Food - This committee handles the preparation and creation of the fresh food that is stocked in stores and is also responsible for the provision of food for events.

Membership - This committee is responsible for reaching out to new members, overseeing current membership, scheduling volunteer hours, and updating members about upcoming events.

Fundraising - This committee seeks to raise funds for the organization, find grants, and organize the annual Harvest Gala.

Storefront - This committee equips the store with the necessary furniture and fixtures.

Finance - This committee is responsible for the financial obligations of the store and the organization, and tracks revenue, expenditures, and business performance.
